The SCTPO leads the regional transportation planning process for Brevard County. Working with local governments, transportation agencies, and the public, the SCTPO identifies transportation needs, evaluates solutions, and prioritizes projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life across the Space Coast.

Through planning, project coordination, and data-driven decision-making, the SCTPO helps guide how state and federal transportation funds are invested in the region’s roads, trails, transit systems, and other transportation infrastructure.

🗺 Planning

Focus: Shaping the future of transportation in the Space Coast region.

Transportation planning helps communities prepare for future growth and changing travel needs. The SCTPO evaluates transportation trends, studies corridors and systems, and works with partners and the public to develop strategies that support a safe and efficient multimodal transportation network.

📑 Core Work Products

Focus: Required transportation plans and programs.

To remain eligible for federal transportation funding, the SCTPO develops and maintains several key planning documents that guide transportation investment in the region. These documents outline long-term transportation goals, prioritized projects, and short-term funding programs.

Core work products include the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), List of Project Priorities (LoPP), Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), and Public Participation Plan (PPP).

📊 Transportation Data

Focus: Data and analysis that support transportation decisions.

Transportation data helps the SCTPO and its partners understand travel patterns, roadway conditions, and transportation trends across Brevard County. The organization collects and analyzes information such as traffic counts, system performance, and safety trends to support planning and project development.

Supporting Regional Mobility

From long-term planning to project implementation, the SCTPO connects transportation needs with funding opportunities and helps move projects from vision to reality. By coordinating with federal, state, and local partners and engaging the public throughout the process, the SCTPO works to create a safe, multimodal, innovative, and resilient transportation system for the Space Coast.
