BREVARD COUNTY, FLA –The Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization(SCTPO) is now accepting applications for its open position of Transportation Planner/Analyst.
The Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization (SCTPO) coordinates transportation planning for Brevard County, FL among local governments, businesses, and the community. Job Overview
Performs skilled professional work in transportation planning programs and initiatives including analyzing, interpreting, and displaying data sets utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS), graphic design software, or other relevant visual programs. Work includes project management, data compilation, analysis, maintenance, and technical support for projects in the transportation planning field.
Transportation Planner/Analyst's main job functions:
- Researches, collects, analyzes, and maintains data used in the regional transportation planning process and the reports and documents of the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization (SCTPO) utilizing GIS tools and programs, including demographic and land uses and information for all modes of transportation (highways and roads, public transportation, air, freight, seaport, airport, spaceport, and non-motorized transportation, bicycles, and pedestrians).
- Coordinates with consultants on the performance of projects and conducts review of technical analysis and calculations and reviews and edits documentation.
- Manages State of the System Report and Annual Traffic Data Analysis projects with or without consultant support.
- Assists in updating and maintaining all major Space Coast TPO documents, including the Long Range Transportation Plan, the Transportation Improvement Program, and the Congestion Management System.
- Prepares technical memoranda, staff reports, and maps to use in various forums, including committee and board meetings, special events, and other public meetings.
- Develops, maintains, and manages web-based dashboards displaying transportation data and collaborates with consultants as necessary.
- Coordinates the Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TMS&O) program and all related tasks.
- Operates web-based and desktop GIS software to perform GIS mapping and visualization duties.
- Collects and analyzes crash statistics and data to support safety initiatives including vision Zero.
- Coordinates with consultants regarding performance on projects and is responsible for conducting review and technical analysis and calculations for projects and for reviewing and editing project documentation.
- Manages transportation-related studies and technical analyses, including corridor and sub-area studies, travel surveys, travel time studies, and multi-jurisdictional projects.
- Provides support to other municipal agencies, local and regional transportation agencies, and other outside agencies, provides transportation project data, and serves as a liaison between the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), local municipalities, and SCTPO on various transportation planning projects, sharing transportation data, and working with Central Florida Regional Travel Demand Model.
- Implements and interprets Federal and State safety programs.
- Performs related work as required
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Technology, Computer Programming, or a closely related field. Additional qualifying education or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: Prefer knowledge of metropolitan planning organizations, Brevard County roadway system, and experience with ArcGIS software, data analysis, and traffic modeling.
